The big league Cubs couldn’t win one late against the Rockies (came up 90 feet short), but the Triple-A Iowa Cubs managed to win their game late thanks to a five-run 8th inning, capped by a Jared Young grand slam.
Down a run, the I-Cubs opened up the 8th inning going walk, sac bunt, walk, single, walk. That had tied the game, and set up Young’s big (longgggg) blast:

Young’s homer was his third of the year. He also doubled in the game, bringing his kinda funky Triple-A slash line to .208/.296/.625 (139 wRC+, .417 ISO (lol)). The 26-year-old 1B/OF has shown flashes of this kind of top-tier offensive production before, but it’s TBD whether he’ll get a shot with the big league team this season. Might be an offseason decision coming on him.
The Cubs may not have held Toledo to just the one run without four one-run innings from Caleb Kilian and then four scoreless from Matt Swarmer (that guy just keeps kicking around, eh?). Brennen Davis’s big defensive night in center helped, too:

Another nice catch by Brennen Davis to end the top of the 8th inning. What a night for Davis in CF.
Also, another scoreless frame for Matt Swarmer. He's tossed 4 shutout innings in relief following up Caleb Kilian tonight.

Davis was also honored before the game:
