There’s so much to enjoy from this one that I’m going to have to dig in a little more later when I’m not rushing (I’ve been in and out for The Little Girl’s dance show – I left after Alfonso Rivas’s homer, and I came back and it was 17-0! – and we’ve got family over).
The Cubs went absolutely bonkers, and Kyle Hendricks dominated on the other side of things. Sean Newcomb made his Cubs debut in the lowest-imaginable leverage spot, so that had to be comfortable. Virtually every Cubs hitter had a good day at the plate, with all of Seiya Suzuki, Willson Contreras, Ian Happ, Alfonso Rivas, and Nico Hoerner notching at least three hits. I mean, the Cubs as a team had 23 hits on the day, 4 walks, and THREE strikeouts. Mercy.
Just a truly wonderful laugh fest all around. More soon. (UPDATE: Some more on the history made today.)
