Today’s win over the Pittsburgh Pirates wasn’t just a 21-0 football-style romp in the ballpark, it was also a little bit of Chicago Cubs franchise history.
Today was the largest shutout victory in the team’s history, probably:

You have to drop in the “probably” because records weren’t kept quite as well before 1901, and the game was fundamentally different back then, too. A 21-0 shutout back in 1899 isn’t quite the same trick as in the game today. So I’ll leave the probably in there, but I’m thinking this is history.
Cubs win 21-0 with only 1 HR
-3rd largest shutout win in MLB since 1900 and largest in franchise history
–Its the most runs by a team who only hit one HR or fewer since the Royals in 2004

A little bit of teamwork history with the Tigers game, too, which featured SEPARATE history being made:
Today is the first time in MLB history there was a 20+ run shutout (@Cubs, 21-0) and another 10+ run shutout (@tigers, 13-0) on the same day.
It's also the first time in the modern era that 2 teams had 20+ hits while shutting out their opponent on the same day.

One of 33 players with 3,000 hits.
