The New York Yankees walked off a winner today at Yankee Stadium over the Cleveland Guardians, but barely anyone is going to remember that part of the day outside of hardcore Yankees fans.
The rest of us are going to remember this:

Unbelievable behavior. Dangerous. Thoughtless. And it’s going to earn the folks who are identified a lifetime ban.
It seems what precipitated the garbage chucking – NOT that anything at all excuses it – is that Guardians outfielders Myles Straw and Oscar Mercado had been exchanging words with the fans in defense of their teammate, Steven Kwan, who’d run into the wall earlier and was injured. Sounds like the fans were saying some nasty things to Kwan after that, and his teammates had had enough:
"If I were to do it again I probably would've said the same thing."
