Offensively, Frank Schwindel has gotten off to a pretty slow start this season, with a below average overall slash line (which is well below average for a first baseman). But defensively, he looks a LOT better at first base than he did at the end of last season. Which is to say, he’s maybe, thinking about, considering, rating out closer to league average with the glove.
Tonight’s diving stop was the latest demonstration of the work he reportedly put in over the winter:

That was 101.4 MPH off the bat, but Schwindel made the stop and got up in time to bring it to the bag, himself. Excellent play.
