The Cubs have been stumbling a bit here lately, and aren’t exactly in a good position to win tonight – they’re playing the Braves … in Atlanta … with Mark Leiter Jr. on the mound … and without their best lineup on the field for reasons known only to David Ross.
Sure, Leiter Jr. was able to navigate a tricky third inning in his last start against the Pirates for a good-enough overall outcome (4.0 IP, 3H, 2ER, 2BB, 3Ks), but letting him face the same lineup more than once or twice in an outing is always going to be a risk. We’ll have to see how long of a leash David Ross lets out this time around. Note: Leiter Jr. is getting the exact same lineup Marcus Stroman faced yesterday. The Cubs, by contrast, are switching things up quite a bit with a righty, Charlie Morton, on the mound instead of a lefty like last night.
Game’s at 6:20 on Marquee. Go Cubs. Stop losing.
