Just after noon today, Drew Smyly and the Chicago Cubs will take on Clayton Kershaw and the Los Angeles Dodgers for the first of two games at Wrigley Field. Tyler Anderson, the originally scheduled series opener for L.A., will take the second game.
As we discussed in the series preview, Kershaw has basically been his vintage self this season (2.35 ERA; 35.3 K%, 2.4 BB%, 48.1 GB%), and was even removed from the 7th inning of a perfect game in his first start of the year. Theoretically, the extra righties in the Cubs lineup will help a little bit, but Kershaw’s career splits are really not large enough to hang your hopes on (and it’s not like it’s the postseason … ha ha ha … I’m dying inside). GO CUBS!
