Even If You’re Just Trying to Avoid the Double-Play, You *STILL* Shouldn’t Run on Willson Contreras

I understand why you might run on Willson Contreras in this situation. It’s a full count. Ben Gamel doesn’t strike out much. There’s one out and you want to stay out of the double-play. I get it.

But the thing is, if you’re facing Keegan Thompson with Willson Contreras behind the plate, you might just run your way into a double-play anyway:

Willson Contreras just throws the ball so dang hard, so dang quickly. No chance on that play.
