This afternoon, the Cubs are looking to complete the sweep of the White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. A win wouldn’t give them rights to the Crosstown Cup, but it would even up the season series at two wins a piece and drop the Sox two games below .500. I’ll take it! Here’s David Ross’ lineup against our old friend, Dylan Cease.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
1. Christopher Morel, CF
2. Willson Contreras, DH
3. Ian Happ, LF
4. Frank Schwindel, 1B
5. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
6. Rafael Ortega, RF
7. Nico Hoerner, SS
8. P.J. Higgins, C
9. Andrelton Simmons, 2B
Willson Contreras is getting a break from catching this afternoon, but sticking in the lineup at DH. I hope the Cubs continue to rest him as often as possible (either on the bench or at DH) even while Yan Gomes is out. So far, so good. Christopher Morel is still leading off (we talked about his success much more earlier this morning) and Frank Schwindel is getting the start at first base over Alfonso Rivas, even against a righty.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:10 CT).
