For a second there, it seemed like Kyle Hendricks was turning his season around. He kept the Padres scoreless through 8.2 innings in San Diego and allowed just 1 run through 5.2 innings against the Diamondbacks … and then the wheels fell off.
In his second start against Arizona, Hendricks surrendered 7ER on eight hits, two walks, and FOUR home runs in 5.0 IP. And after that, he gave up 4ER in just 4.0 IP against the Reds with another home run. Hendricks has allowed at least one home run in five of his ten starts, and has given up 11 overall. That’s fourth most in MLB.
The Brewers (109 wRC+, 11th in MLB) have been pretty good against righties this year, especially with the long-ball (52 HRs vs. RHP, 2nd most in MLB). So that feels like it could be an issue again tonight. Here’s a look at Hendricks’ other starts against Milwaukee this season.
4/07: 5.1 IP, 5H, 1ER, 3BB, 7Ks
4/29: 4.1 IP, 7H, 6ER, 2BB, 2Ks … 3 HRs
