There are barely the right words to express the general feeling of watching the Cubs stomped by the Cardinals on a Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field. It is the perfect opposite of how things are supposed to be. It’s like ordering a magnificent sandwich, and instead of getting to eat a delicious sandwich, the sandwich eats you. And it smells like aggressively rancid deer meat and rat sweat. And it has a speaker inside playing Nickelback at an egregiously loud volume while Harrison Bader dances and sings, glee washing all over his face.
Today’s game sucked.
I’ll drill down more into what happened with Marcus Stroman (because ultimately that was the pitching issue, and everything that followed was just filler), as well as the continued failings of this particular version of the lineup. For now, there wasn’t even that much fun to be salvaged at the end …
