Voting on the 2022 MLB All-Star teams kicks off today, as the ballot is out. Get those fingers clicking if you’re into sending more Cubs to the game than might otherwise be merited.
Which is not to say that at least ONE of these guys DEFINITELY merits an All-Star nod based on what he’s done so far this year:

Obviously Willson Contreras is playing at an All-Star-caliber level this year, and while you could make an argument for a couple other players, it’s looking like he might be the lone representative in mid-July.
Maybe Keegan Thompson bounces back strong from last night’s outing. Maybe David Robertson keeps cruising and gets the rare reliever selection. Maybe Seiya Suzuki comes back and blows up. Maybe Ian Happ or Patrick Wisdom turn it on even more from here. Or heck, maybe Chris Morel keeps doing what he’s been doing and cannot be stopped.
Big bummer on Morel? He didn’t make the ballot thanks to the timing of when these things are being put together. So if he were going to get in from the fans, they’d have to be write-in votes.
