Cardinals Pitcher Gives the Rays a Free Run Because He Forgot How Many Outs There Were

Chicago Cubs

No Cubs game tonight, so we’re left to get our baseball yuks from SCardenfreude.

The St. Louis Cardinals are playing the Tampa Bay Rays and getting stomped. That alone might be enough to soothe you into tomorrow, but I think you’ll also enjoy Cardinals pitcher T.J. McFarland forgetting how many outs there were in an inning, making a play at first – instead of a freebie at home – and starting to jog off the field like he’d just played hero.

The Rays even trolled the Cardinals when sharing the highlight:

With the bases loaded and one out, McFarland got the bouncer back to the mound, and although they probably couldn’t have turned two, the force out at home was a guarantee. Oops.

I love the smile from Randy Arozarena as he heads back toward the dugout. He knew *exactly* what had just happened.
