Connor Myers was a long-time Chicago Cubs outfield prospect through last year, playing at Double-A Tennessee. The bat never quite came along, but he was always known for his superlative defense in the outfield. If there was a ball coming anywhere remotely near him, he was going to catch it.
A skill that served him well, I suspect, last night when he was at the Cubs-Orioles game and something truly bonkers happened.
You know the Christopher Morel home run to lead off the game? It was wild enough, being the very first pitch of the game and everything. But that wasn’t the half of it: the homer was snagged in left center by none other than Myers, who played with Morel at Tennessee last year and was talking to him just before the game!
Unbelievable moment! I was talking to Morel 20 minutes before. https://t.co/kXbW2CpTfK

There was a lot of ricocheting on that one, so it’s not clear on the video we have exactly when/how Myers got the ball, but clearly it eventually found its rightful home. What a conversation those two must’ve had after the game!
