After playing 11 games in 9 days (with FOUR heading into extra-innings), the Cubs have played just one game since Sunday. But it’s a good thing they got that rest, because they’re about to kick off a stretch of 17-straight games starting with this series in New York against the Yankees. Here’s the lineup for Game 1 against Luis Severino.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
1. Christopher Morel, CF
2. Willson Contreras, C
3. Ian Happ, LF
4. Frank Schwindel, 1B
5. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
6. Rafael Ortega, DH
7. Nico Hoerner, SS
8. Jason Heyward, RF
9. Nick Madrigal, 2B
SP: Wade Miley, LHP
It’s the same lineup we’ve been seeing a lot of lately, with Jason Heyward in right field over … well, not Clint Frazier, who was just surprisingly DFA’d, and Rafael Ortega at DH over … well, not Alfonso Rivas, who was just optioned down to Iowa.
I really can’t wait for Seiya Suzuki to come back.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (6:05 CT).
