We’ll see what actually happened, but here’s what we know: Wade Miley, who just returned from the IL for a left shoulder strain, was warming up before the 4th inning when he stopped. Looked in at Willson Contreras, who could tell something wasn’t right. Contreras signaled to the dugout, and Miley was out of the game.
When Miley has been healthy enough to pitch this year – including the first three innings tonight – he has pitched really well. More information as soon as it’s available.
UPDATE: The official word from the Cubs is “left shoulder soreness,” which means Miley felt something that wasn’t right, and called himself off. That’s good, from a being-wise-about-your-body standpoint, but it doesn’t really tell us much of anything about what’s actually wrong. I have concerns. I assume we’ll find out tomorrow if he’s getting an MRI.
