Chicago Cubs Lineup: Wisdom at 1B, Villar at 3B

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs have lost nine games in a row, and today they’re facing the Padres best starter, Joe Musgrove. Musgrove has not gone fewer than 6.0 innings in any start this season and he has a 1.50 ERA. Good luck, Cubs.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Christopher Morel, CF
  2. Willson Contreras, C
  3. Ian Happ, DH
  4. Patrick Wisdom, 1B
  5. Rafael Ortega, LF
  6. Nico Hoerner, SS
  7. Jonathan Villar, 3B
  8. Jason Heyward, RF
  9. Andrelton Simmons, 2B

SP: Matt Swarmer, RHP

The top of the Cubs order looks more or less the same, but with Frank Schwindel getting the day off after yet another grueling pitching performance, Patrick Wisdom moves up to cleanup, playing first base. That opens up third base for Jonathan Villar, whose arm and defense there has been questionable all season, which opens second base up for Andrelton Simmons.

Rafael Ortega takes over left field for Ian Happ, who’s this afternoon’s DH, and right and center belong to Heyward and Morel.

Willson Contreras is back behind the plate, catching Matt Swarmer and the Cubs will, you know, give it their best shot.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:20 CT).
