Chicago Cubs Lineup: Hmm … No Rafael Ortega?

Chicago Cubs

It’s a new day and a new series at Wrigley Field. The Atlanta Braves are in town for three straight afternoon tilts against the Cubs, and this is the lineup for Game 1 at 1:20.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Christopher Morel, CF
  2. Willson Contreras, DH
  3. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
  4. Ian Happ, LF
  5. Frank Schwindel, 1B
  6. Nico Hoerner, SS
  7. Yan Gomes, C
  8. Jason Heyward, RF
  9. Andrelton Simmons, 2B

SP: Keegan Thompson, RHP

Charlie Morton is starting for the Braves this afternoon, and he comes with pretty significant lefty/righty splits, both for his career and especially this season.

vs. LHH: .394 wOBA
vs. RHH: .319 wOBA

With that in mind, the Cubs … have one lefty and one switch-hitter in the lineup. I wonder if something’s going on with Rafael Ortega? I do think David Ross would find a way to get him in there if he was 100%, so that’s something to keep an eye on.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:20 CT).
