Outfielder Clint Frazier, who is currently trying to work himself back on the radar at Triple-A Iowa, is making at least one big change in the process. And it’s not his swing or his defense.
Say hello to Jackson Frazier:
Well, all right. If Frazier says he wants to go by Jackson, I will try to get that cemented in my head as the new way to refer to him. Jackson Frazier. We’ll see if it becomes an official change on the roster – he is still listed as “Clint Frazier” – or if this is going to be more of a casual thing.
Whatever the name, I’m hoping Frazier can turn it on at Iowa. He’s no longer on the 40-man roster and, if not added before the season ends, will head back to free agency. At just 27, and with past success in the big leagues, I’d really like the Cubs to at least have the chance to retain him for 2023. That probably happens only if he really rakes the rest of the way (and if he does, who knows, it’s conceivable he could rejoin the big league team after the Trade Deadline).
