Some very nice news in the Chicago Cubs organization tonight, as the Low-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans won in the 10th inning, clinching the first half crown for the southern division in the Carolina League! If you forgot that minor leagues have “first half” champs that lock in a playoff spot for later in the year, now you remember!
One of the best teams in the minor leagues all year, the Pelicans are feeling the hit from promotions to South Bend, but keep on winning. Tonight’s win gives them a ridiculous final first half record of 47-19.
