Angels Reliever Archie Bradley Broke His Elbow … Falling Out of the Dugout During the Rumble

Chicago Cubs

The Angels-Mariners brawl is the gift that keeps on giving. Er, well, maybe “gift” is the wrong word – it’s the story that keeps getting more and more ridiculous? Yeah. That.

If you missed it, there was a HUGE rumble between the Angels and Mariners on Sunday, which wound up getting a whopping 12 individuals suspended (including an interpreter!), and it just went to another level. Yes, there is another level: the absurd injury level.

Angels reliever Archie Bradley broke his pitching elbow during the skirmish … but not because he was directly involved in the fighting. It was because he FELL WHILE TRYING TO GO OVER THE RAILING TO JOIN THE FIGHT:

Add it to the list of all-time embarrassing baseball injuries. It would be one thing to get injured during a brawl because you were in the middle of said brawl (though that would be bad for its own reasons). But to never even make it to the brawl because you couldn’t clear the dugout railing successfully? Oof.

Archie Bradley, 29, is on a $3.8 million deal with the Angels this year, and had posted a 4.82 ERA over 18.2 innings (much better peripherals, though). Hey, maybe it’ll be like ‘Rookie of the Year,’ and he’ll come back from this injury throwing even harder!
