We noted recently that Christopher Morel has the two hardest throws from the outfield this year, which tracked with the scouting reports about his cannon for an arm. But the thing was, neither of those throws was really part of a great play, so it was a little easy to forget about them.
THIS throw? Beautiful play, Christopher Morel:
That Justin Steele reaction was all of us. I was screaming.
It was 97.3 mph, by the way:
Despite having to throw a little flat-footed because it was a line drive that got on him quickly, Morel was still able to get some serious heat on that throw. Even though it was off-line, it got home so quickly that Willson Contreras still had time to apply the tag.
Bases loaded, one out, and the defense helps Justin Steele get out of it. That’s what you want to see.
