Man. David Bote cannot catch a break.
After a long (and briefly interrupted) rehab following shoulder surgery, David Bote finally rejoined the Cubs just under a week ago. But tonight, unfortunately, he may have re-injured the exact same shoulder on a scary collision with a shifted Nico Hoerner in the top of the 4th inning.
Bote initially stayed in the game, but it was pretty clear that he was in some serious pain. Hopefully, given the type of season the Cubs are having (and the blowout nature of this game, in particular), Bote was removed out of an abundance of caution. But that was one hard hit directly to his injured shoulder.
Andrelton Simmons took over at second base.
UPDATE: No surprise here, but he left with “shoulder soreness”
