Brett literally hasn’t stopped talking about Adrian Sampson since he’s delivered a couple of really promising outings against the Braves and Cardinals (combined): 9.2 IP, 5H, 2ER, 2BB, 10Ks, looking like a completely different pitcher in the process. So I guess I’m especially excited to see him today.
I also feel bad for Sampson, the only four teams he’s faced this year? Dodgers, Braves, Cardinals, and now Red Sox. That’s a tough draw!
SOMEHOW, Rich Hill is still pitching. He’s starting to wear down in the results department, but he did just hold the Guardians to 1 earned run over 6.0 innings his last time out. And I’m so beyond underestimating him at this point, even as a 42-year-old, effectively two-pitch pitcher.
Go Cubs.
