Surprisingly, the Chicago Cubs are going for a sweep over the Boston Red Sox this afternoon, at the stock, standard ballpark, Wrigley field. Here’s David Ross’ lineup for the finale (against somebody named Connor Seabold).
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Rafael Ortega, CF
- Willson Contreras, DH
- Ian Happ, LF
- Patrick Wisdom, 3B
- Nico Hoerner, SS
- P.J. Higgins, C
- Alfonso Rivas, 1B
- Nelson Velázquez, RF
- Christopher Morel, 2B
SP: Keegan Thompson, RHP
The Cubs are REALLY protecting Willson Contreras. He’s been the DH more than he’s been the catcher going on two straight weeks now. Not that their hand wasn’t already tipped with respect to their intentions at the deadline, but….
With both Seiya Suzuki and Jason Heyward out of the lineup with injuries, it’s Nelson Velazquez’s turn in right field this afternoon. Suzuki might return as soon as tomorrow, so either Velázquez or Narciso Crook, who started there yesterday, might be on their way out. At least temporarily.
Rafael Ortega is still in center, which means Morel is still at second.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:20 CT).
