Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Brewers (1:10 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

The Chicago Cubs have actually done a lot of winning lately. After being swept by the Yankees and Padres over seven straight games in mid-June (LOL), they took two of three from the Braves, Cardinals, Reds, and Red Sox, losing only one series to the Pirates, because that’s baseball. My point here is that if they win today’s game in Milwaukee, they’ll have won their fifth series in their last six tries, four of which will have come against true postseason contenders.

And, heck, they were already an out away from winning the opener on Monday.

Unfortunately, the Cubs are using one of their depth starters today, Adrian Sampson, against one of the top starters in baseball, Corbin Burnes. This will be the Cubs third start against Burnes this season – he struck out ten batters the last time they met up.

As for Sampson, he’s had some nice outings this year and is mostly just grinding his way through to the 4-5 inning. He’s faced only good teams so far: Dodgers, Braves, Cardinals, Red Sox, and now the Brewers.

Go Cubs.
