Well, there’s some good news for your Friday!
For the third time in his career, Willson Contreras is the starting catcher for the National League in the All-Star game! A very well deserved honor.
And as Sarah Langs pointed out, Contreras is now tied with Gabby Hartnett for the most all-star starts behind the plate for Cubs catchers.
He’s slashing .274/.392/.498 (151 wRC+) on the season, as one of the best overall hitters in the league. So happy for him, so well deserved.
Now, we just need him to heal up, so he can actually play in the game. After that, well, the trade deadline is coming up. So enjoy every moment while you can.
And while we’re on the topic, here’s one of my all-time favorite Willson Contreras moments from when he was named to his first All-Star game.
