Chicago Cubs Lineup: Don’t Get Swept

Chicago Cubs

Another day, another Dodgers lefty on the mound. This time, Julio Urías will try to bring victory to the Dodgers, completing what could be a four-game sweep for L.A., despite three straight close contests. Here’s David Ross’ lineup for the finale in Los Angeles.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Chris Morel, CF
  2. Willson Contreras, DH
  3. Ian Happ, LF
  4. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
  5. Nico Hoerner, SS
  6. P.J. Higgins, C
  7. Nelson Velázquez, RF
  8. David Bote, 1B
  9. Andrelton Simmons, 2B

SP: Drew Smyly, LHP

The Cubs are continuing to take it slow with both Seiya Suzuki (out of the lineup) and Willson Contreras (back, but as the DH). I tend to think that’s the right move for both guys, given the distinct, but equally important, long-term considerations.

With Contreras at DH, catcher is open for P.J. Higgins, which leaves first base for David Bote (also being slow-played after his collision with Nico Hoerner).

Velázquez has right for Suzuki, Ortega is still on the bench (too many dang lefties in a row), and Andrelton Simmons is at second base.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (3:10 CT).
