If they gave out awards for almost winning games, the Cubs would be right up there with the best. Or worst. However that makes sense.
Alas. By a margin of 13-8, the Cubs have dropped the first three games of this series in Los Angeles. That means the Dodgers are going for the four-game sweep this afternoon, doing so against a pitcher, Drew Smyly, returning from a lengthy stint on the IL.
And to make mattes worse, the Cubs are facing a lefty, Julio Urias, who’s been outstanding this season: 2.57 ERA over 16 starts with a 6% walk rate and very little hard contact.
The Cubs need everything to be perfect today to steal this sweep away from the Dodgers.
