The Cubs are kicking off their final series of the first-half tonight at Wrigley Field. Keegan Thompson is on the mound for Chicago and Carlos Carrasco is going for the Mets. Here’s David Ross’ lineup for the opener against New York.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Rafael Ortega, CF
- Willson Contreras, DH
- Ian Happ, LF
- Seiya Suzuki, RF
- Nico Hoerner, SS
- Patrick Wisdom, 3B
- Alfonso Rivas, 1B
- Yan Gomes, C
- Chris Morel, 2B
SP: Keegan Thompson, RHP
Carlos Carrasco has been far less successful against left-handed batters this year, which explains Rafael Ortega back up top and Alfonso Rivas at second base. Unfortunately, besides Ian Happ, the Cubs don’t have any other quality lefty bats to stick in there, so they’ll have to hope the righties can get to Carrasco just as well.
Meanwhile, after finally making his return to the catching spot, Willson Contreras is back at designated hitter tonight, leaving room for Yan Gomes behind the plate.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (7:05 CT).
