Earlier this year, the Atlanta Braves called up 21-year-old outfield prospect Michael Harris II straight from Double-A after just 43 games. He’d been performing well in the minors by the stat line, though not eye-poppingly so. But it’s clear the Braves knew what they had.
Harris has been nothing short of incredible in his time in the big leagues, especially considering his age and the leap. Last night, he really showed it off.
In the top of the 5th inning against the Nationals, Harris caught up with a fastball above the zone – after a 10-pitch at bat! – to send it out:
That’s a nice highlight for the young lefty. But it isn’t why I’m writing this today. Instead, it’s what he did in the bottom of the inning that had my eyes bulging.
This throw is absolutely BONKERS:
Watch the Michael Harris II throw again from a different angle, and you can really appreciate just how ridiculous it was:
The Braves drafted Michael Harris II out of high school in the third round in 2019, and he already looks like a stud in the big leagues. That was pretty nice work.
