The Chicago Cubs have a double-header on tap today, against two very tough pitchers – Taijuan Walker and Max Scherzer. That is … not a great draw. Here’s David Ross’ lineup for the first of two at Wrigley Field.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Rafael Ortega, CF
- Willson Contreras, C
- Ian Happ, LF
- Seiya Suzuki, RF
- Nico Hoerner, SS
- Frank Schwindel, 1B
- Patrick Wisdom, DH
- P.J. Higgins, 3B
- Chris Morel, 2B
SP: Marcus Stroman, RHP
Frank Schwindel is back in the Cubs starting lineup after a trip to the IL (and eventually to Iowa for a rehab stint). He’s got a tough assignment today against Walker, but I suppose it’s better than what Alfonso Rivas will likely be facing later tonight.
Willson Contreras is behind the plate for the first half of the double-header, but he’s not the only catcher in this lineup, as P.J. Higgins is taking over third pushing Patrick Wisdom to DH. That leaves room for Rafael Ortega in center and Chris Morel at second base.
All things considered, this is a pretty “normal” lineup for a double-header. I’m guessing David Ross (who’s still all about winning) is putting most of his eggs in the Walker basket, as opposed to Scherzer.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:20 CT).
