We’ve made it to the end of the first-half of the season. The draft is tonight, the HR Derby is tomorrow, and the All-Star game is on Tuesday. But we’ve got one more game to wrap up before that, as the Cubs look to avoid a ten-game losing streak in Chicago.
Adrian Sampson has been so darn impressive this season, and against some really tough opponents:
We still have no clue what to make of how good he looks, but he does look good. I’m pretty interested to see what he’s got for a good Mets team today, and how good the results might be if ever faces a non contender. There are plenty out there, he just never draws one.
David Peterson is starting opposite Sampson, and he’s had some ups and downs lately.
His last two starts featured 8 walks and 16 strikeouts, the two starts before that featured NO walks and 18 strikeouts. There’s obviously a lot of talent there, but he might just be prone to some fits of wildness. That said, he’s also generating a ton of ground balls and has generally been pretty effective.
