The Myrtle Beach Pelicans Just Threw the Cubs Farm System’s FOURTH No-Hitter This Year!
The Chicago Cubs Low-A affiliate Myrtle Beach Pelicans do not care that I’m trying to cover the MLB Draft tonight. They have bats to miss.
The Chicago Cubs have ANOTHER no-hitter in their farm system this year, as the Myrtle Beach Pelicans just pulled off their second of the season. The Tennessee Smokies also have two on the year.
This is never not fun:
This one was truly a team effort, as five pitchers combined for the no-no:
- Tyler Schlaffer went 3.0 innings, walking two and striking out six
- Luis Angel Rodriguez went 3.0 innings, walking three and striking out eight(!)
- Gregori Montano went 1.0 inning, striking out one
- Angel Hernández went 1.0 inning, striking out one
- And Alfredo Zarraga (he’s got helium as a relief prospect, by the way) pitched a 1-2-3 9th to finish it off
