Cubs Win It in Extras, Stroman Cruises, Hoerner’s Hot, and Other Cubs Bullets

Chicago Cubs

For reasons that are probably clear if you saw the EBS last night, I am struggling this morning. Suffice to say, we had a good time yesterday for The Wife’s birthday celebration, but the brevity of these Bullets will reflect my current level of ability to type sentences. I do not feel well.

  • Hey, the Cubs won again, and turned it on in extra innings. Enjoy the highlights if you missed the game:

  • Great to know that Marcus Stroman is settling back into a groove this year, because that’s really all you’re looking from him the rest of the way: comfort that he can be himself next season.
  • Nico Hoerner, who homered last night and kicked off the 10th inning scoring by stealing third base as the designated runner, has been great all year. But in the last two months, specifically, the guy is hitting .319/.361/.447/123 wRC+ (while striking out just 8.4% of the time). He is playing like one of the top five shortstops in all of baseball. Maybe extend him now, Cubs. Try to be early on that for once.
  • After he was DFA’d last week, lefty Daniel Norris has ultimately been released by the Cubs. Most reclamation projects do not work out. All the best to him at the next stop.
  • The Cubs officially announced their first batch of signings:
  • Wins up and down the board yesterday:
  • Feel bad for an old friend:
