2022 #BNBlogathon Check-In: Hour 4

Chicago Cubs

I am currently blogging – here, on Facebook, and on Twitter (hash tag #BNBlogathon for those who want to jump into the fray themselves) – for 41 hours straight, past MLB’s August 2 Trade Deadline and through the Cubs/Cardinals game Tuesday night, thanks to your generous donations to Make-A-Wish. I’ll be doing recaps on the process throughout the day, but you’ll also see normal posting (Bullets, news, Pre-Gamin’, EBS, etc.), as well as a significant uptick in rumor/trade posts.

Total Posts So Far:

News and Rumors Since the Last Check-In:

We’re just starting, but there’s already a lot teed up, including the still-a-possibility blockbuster potential between the Padres and Cubs. The Blue Jays may not actually need an outfielder. Willson Contreras’s emotional farewell (again), and the (non?) impact of his slump.

Most Interesting Tidbit Since the Last Recap:

Outside of the possibility of that blockbuster, I think the most interesting thing so far is just how quiet it’s been the last few days. We know WHY, but is this just gonna drag into tomorrow and then be an uncoverable mess of deals all at once?

Current Thoughts About the Chicago Cubs’ Trade Deadline Strategy/Execution:

It’s gone exactly as I expected so far – one reliever trade over the weekend, and then everything else pushing up against the deadline. With no game for the Cubs today, they can really stretch this out without any additional risks.

Current Tiredness Level:

4. That’s kinda high for the very first update, but I woke up pretty tired. Still kinda shaking that off.

Current Beverage/Stimulant of Choice:

Got a black coffee to kick things off, though I’d planned to wait a little longer for the first one:

Current Emotional Status:

Nothing doing. I mean, I *have* emotions, but I feel pretty placid in relation to whatever is going to happen. I just kicked this thing off, so I’m mostly just caught up in getting the Blogathon rolling.

Random Thought Passing Through My Mind:

Thanks a lot for pixelating like crazy on the live streams today, Twitter. Really helpful timing:
