Pre-Gamin’: Cubs at Cardinals (Postponed) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread
Update: We are in a rain delay and the weather in St. Louis looks pretty bad all night.
UPDATE 2: Postponed. Double-header tomorrow.
The Cubs are back in action tonight, hoping to get a better performance out of their other young starter, Justin Steele, than they did Keegan Thompson yesterday.
Steele’s last outing was a short one against the Giants that was actually a lot better than the final box score would suggest. He got stuck in an abnormally long inning and the coaching staff wisely pulled him at just 3.2 IP. No sense in pushing him too far this season. Steele is already at 91.0 IP. His previous single-season high was 98.2 IP at High-A in 2019.
On the flip side, Miles Mikolas will face the Cubs for the third time this year. They tagged him for 4 ER over 5.0 innings pitched in early June, but he got the best of them in their second matchup at Busch: 6.0 IP, 4H, 1ER, 1BB, 9Ks.
Go Cubs.
