P.J. Higgins SKIES One Out of Wrigley
It hasn’t been a lot of playing time (and the opportunities won’t expand after the Willson Contreras non-trade), but when P.J. Higgins has played this year, he’s played well. Behind the plate, he looks capable, and at the plate, he’s raked.
He just skied his fifth homer of the year just inside (over?) the foul pole in left:
On the year, Higgins is now hitting .280/.356/.527/144 wRC+ over 105 plate appearances. He’s 29, but sometimes catchers don’t really click on offense until later (of course, he’s always hit in recent years, but he lost a season to the pandemic, and he’s been behind Contreras for a while, obviously).
