Pre-Gamin’: Nationals at Cubs (7:05 CT) – Lineups, Broadcast Info, Game Thread

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are right back at it tonight, with their first of three games against the Washington Nationals. Keegan Thompson is taking the ball against Anibal Sanchez coming off an iffy start in St. Louis, during which he allowed 5 earned runs to score on 10 hits over just 4.2 innings with more walks (2) than strikeouts (1).

That was one of his worst start of the year by far, though it came after a pretty excellent outing against the Pirates: 7.0 IP, 4H, 0ER, 0B, 7Ks. I think we’ll see something close to the latter tonight after the Nationals gutted their already weak lineup at the deadline.

Meanwhile, Anibal Sancez hasn’t had a particularly strong year since his season debut on July 14, allowing a combined 17 earned runs over four starts and just 20.0 IP (7.65 ERA). He’s not exactly getting crushed, but he is allowing a lot of contact in the air and thus six homers already.

I’m taking the Cubs in this one.
