This has started very well, eh?
So far, I am enjoying the pageantry. Call me a sap, but the whole Griffeys Junior and Senior thing really got me, and the players emerging from the corn is always so cool.
In the top of the first, with two outs, Patrick Wisdom got hit in the foot by a big breaker on which he totally swung for strike three – but it wasn’t called on the appeal to first base, so you’ll gladly take the baserunner.
And it turned out to be huge, because Seiya Suzuki followed with a double to the gap to score Wisdom for the first run of the game:
And then Nico Hoerner immediately followed with a single to score Suzuki:
And then Ian Happ immediately followed with another double to score Hoerner!
