According to WSB-TV Atlanta, who pulled their information straight out of the Gwinnett County jail records, Braves outfielder Marcell Ozuna was arrested around 4:30am on Friday morning driving under the influence.
The Braves haven’t commented yet, but this might be something close to the end for Ozuna, who was already once in trouble after assaulting and strangling his wife in May of 2021.
Two months before that, Ozuna signed a four-year, $64 million deal with the Braves. He missed most of the 2021 season on administrative leave, and is now likely to miss some more time this season. Ozuna had a breakout year with the bat in 2020 (178 wRC+), but hasn’t come close to producing anything in that ballpark since, slashing .214/.263/.393 this season.
The Braves are 3.5 games out of first place in the NL East and hold first position in the NL Wild Card race.
