There is no living broadcaster more deserving of his team’s highest honor than long-time Chicago Cubs radio man Pat Hughes, who tonight learned that he would soon enter the Cubs Hall of Fame at Wrigley Field.
And he learned it live on the Cubs broadcast:
That’s just a special, unbelievably well-deserved moment for one of the all-time voices of the Cubs.
And just to put a beautiful capper on the half-inning, as everyone was getting in their congratulations to Hughes in the booth, Nolan Arenado didn’t quite check his swing on strike three, was called out, and EXPLODED all over the home plate ump, getting himself ejected. The Cubs booth was just laughing and laughing.
