Chicago Cubs Lineup: Willson Contreras Is Back!

Chicago Cubs

Hey, I just realized this series will be the final Cubs-Brewers matchup of the season. We’re getting down to it, eh? Here’s a look at the Cubs lineup for the first of the last three games against Milwaukee this year.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Nick Madrigal, 2B
  2. Willson Contreras, C
  3. Ian Happ, LF
  4. Seiya Suzuki, RF
  5. Franmil Reyes, DH
  6. Nico Hoerner, SS
  7. Zach McKinstry, 3B
  8. P.J. Higgins, 1B
  9. Chris Morel, CF

SP: Justin Steele, LHP

This is an almost-identical lineup to the one the Cubs used against Freddy Peralta last weekend. The only exception is P.J. Higgins at first base instead of Patrick Wisdom, with Zach McKinstry moving up one spot in the order.

And that ALSO means that, yes, Willson Contreras is finally back in the lineup after resting a sore ankle for the past handful of games. It’s good to have him back. But I also wonder what kind of difference he could’ve made in the St. Louis Series, which the Cubs dropped by just one game.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (7:10 CT).
