The Cubs are throwing another lefty — this time, Drew Smyly — at the Brewers tonight. Which is good news considering Milwaukee’s southpaw weakness. But David Ross has a tough task of his own, with Brandon Woodruff standing on the mound across from his guys. Here’s the Cubs lineup for Game 2 of 3 in Milwaukee.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Nick Madrigal, 2B
- Willson Contreras, C
- Ian Happ, LF
- Seiya Suzuki, RF
- Franmil Reyes, DH
- Nico Hoerner, SS
- Rafael Ortega, CF
- Alfonso Rivas, 1B
- Chris Morel, 3B
SP: Drew Smyly, LHP
The lineup revealed a roster move for us today, as Alfonso Rivas has been called up to the Cubs in place of an injured Patrick Wisdom. Rivas is playing first base today and batting eighth. More on that roster move in a bit.
Meanwhile, the Cubs faced Woodruff last weekend, and this is very close to the same lineup that put up just two runs (on two solo homers from Suzuki and Happ). The only differences are Rivas at first for P.J. Higgins and Contreras behind the plate instead of Yan Gomes, with Nico Hoerner moving down in the order. Let’s see if the Cubs don’t have a little more luck scoring this time around.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (6:10 CT).
