New week, new series. The Cubs are in Toronto to face the Blue Jays for three straight games starting tonight. Javier Assad is taking the mound for his second big league start. And here’s his lineup.
Chicago Cubs Lineup:
- Nick Madrigal, 2B
- Willson Contreras, C
- Ian Happ, LF
- Seiya Suzuki, RF
- Franmil Reyes, DH
- Nico Hoerner, SS
- Rafael Ortega, CF
- Alfonso Rivas, 1B
- Chris Morel, 3B
SP: Javier Assad, RHP
With the righty Jose Berríos on the mound, David Ross has lefties Alfonso Rivas, Rafael Ortega, and Ian Happ (S) in the lineup, which seems like a wise strategy, given Berríos’ numbers this season:
LHH vs. Berrios: .294/.347/.544 (.382 wOBA)
RHH vs. Berrios: .260/.310/.415 (.318 wOBA)
Though he did stick with Chris Morel at third base instead of Zack McKinstry, who’s struggles since coming to the Cubs.
As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (6:07 CT).
