I don’t know exactly what Willson Contreras was trying to prove tonight, but he certainly proved it.
After displaying a very visible limp on his ground out in the first inning, and during his home run in the 4th, Willson Contreras has come out of the game tonight. I’ll update this post when we learn more, but it seems likely to be that stiff/sore ankle he injured at the Field of Dreams game a few weeks back. As someone who’s rolled his ankle many times before, I can tell you with certainty that injury lingers. Just when you think it’s better, something comes up and bites you.
In any case, Alfonso Rivas has entered the game, taking over first base for P.J. Higgins who moves behind the plate.
