After putting the ball in play in the top of the first inning, Willson Contreras limped his way to first base and then limped his way into the dugout. It was *clear* that something was bothering him (probably his sore ankle), and frankly, I didn’t expect him to come out of the dugout. But he did, and he caught the bottom of the first, second, and third innings before it was time for his second AB in the 4th.
And this time, he decided to skip all that “sprinting to first” nonsense, by just hitting it over the wall.
Good plan.
But all jokes aside, he is still limping pretty significantly around the bases. And while “being tough” is all good and well, it’s also a pretty stupid thing to do on a losing team in late August with free agency one month away.
Anyway …
