Chicago Cubs Lineup: McKinstry Leading Off

Chicago Cubs

With Willson Contreras and Nick Madrigal banged up at the moment, the top of the order gets another reshuffle. Here’s David Ross’ lineup for Game 2 against the Giants at Wrigley Field.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Zach McKinstry, 2B
  2. Nico Hoerner, SS
  3. Seiya Suzuki, RF
  4. Ian Happ, LF
  5. Rafael Ortega, DH
  6. P.J. Higgins, C
  7. Alfonso Rivas, 1B
  8. David Bote, 3B
  9. Chris Morel, CF

SP: Marcus Stroman, RHP

Against the righty Logan Webb, the Cubs are cramming in three lefties and a switch hitter into their lineup. And it makes sense, because Webb has fairly pronounced, traditional splits, with lefties hitting him far better than righties for his career and especially this season:

LHH: .261/.326/.401 (.320 wOBA)
RHH: .220/.266/.299 (.253 wOBA)

Zach McKinstry is leading off in place of an injured Nick Madrigal (right groin strain), Rafael Ortega is the DH in place of Franmil Reyes, and Alfonso Rivas is at first base, because P.J. Higgins is behind the plate and Yan Gomes is on the bench.

David Bote is your third baseman this afternoon, which leaves center field open for Chris Morel, batting ninth.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (1:20 CT).
