Starting Chicago Cubs shortstop Nico Hoerner was doing his thing tonight. He had a single and a double, and he busted out a jump throw to make a beautiful play at first base:
Soon thereafter, though – quietly at a turn of the inning – Hoerner was replaced at shortstop by Christopher Morel. The ESPN broadcast did not offer word on the reason, so we’re left to wait and find out what’s up.
As I am about to publish, though, the Cubs make the announcement: “right triceps tightness.” Aka, an arm issue. Hopefully this is minor and precautionary, because although the season is “over” for the Cubs and the offseason approaches, you don’t want any kind of actual injury to disrupt the months ahead for Hoerner.
