Chicago Cubs Lineup: Chris Morel at Shortstop

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are in New York to face the Mets tonight, with three straight games at Citi Field. Here’s David Ross’ lineup for the opener.

Chicago Cubs Lineup:

  1. Zach McKinstry, 2B
  2. Seiya Suzuki, RF
  3. Franmil Reyes, DH
  4. Ian Happ, LF
  5. Patrick Wisdom, 3B
  6. Rafael Ortega, CF
  7. P.J. Higgins, C
  8. Alfonso Rivas, 1B
  9. Chris Morel, SS

SP: Javier Assad, RHP

Nico Hoerner remains out with an arm injury, so Chris Morel is sliding over to shortstop for the time being. That opens up third base for Patrick Wisdom, who hasn’t started there since August 19.

Alfonso Rivas continues to be the guy at first base, and P.J. Higgins is behind the plate.

Obviously it doesn’t matter all that much, but the Cubs are playing without a whole lot of key contributors right now, from the four relievers they traded at the deadline, to Kyle Hendricks, Justin Steele, Keegan Thompson, Nico Hoerner, and Willson Contreras.

As usual, we’ll have your full Pre-Gamin’ post closer to game time (6:10 CT).
